NLL Lacrosse Info

NLL Lacrosse

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) constitutes one of the most entertaining sports in North America, headquartered in Pennsylvania. However, recent research shows that NLL fans mostly belong to the age group of 46 - it’s younger than nearly all North American professional sports leagues.

What’s more interesting? Nearly 60% of its fans are from non-lacrosse fan bases. More significantly, NLL fans are highly engaged and passionate. Almost 58% of NLL enthusiasts pinpoint their favorite teams as their all-inclusive favorite sports teams.

The National Lacrosse League opts for a digital-first strategy. As a result, every game is televised live on TSN Direct, ESPN+, NLL Social, TSN (Canada), and ESPN (U.S.). It’s estimated that NLL has had nearly 8,900 to 10,700 spectators every year in each game since 2004. So, why is NLL Lacrosse a must-see sport?

The History

Founded in 1986, the National Lacrosse League comes in the top three in average attendance for professional indoor sports globally. It consists of 15 franchises across Canada and the United States – Colorado, Las Vegas Desert Dogs, Philadelphia Wings, Toronto Rock, Georgia Swarm, New York Riptide, Vancouver Warriors, etc.

Box leagues are played in the summer. However, the NLL games occur in the spring and winter, from December to June. Every team fights for the National Lacrosse League Cup every year. The NLL teams play four 15minutes quarters with a 16-minute half-time and 2minutes breaks in the middle of quarters.

Playoffs and Season

NLL teams have the six-team West Division and the eight-team East Division. Every team battles against division opponents in at least nine of the eighteen games during the regular season. The matches take place on Friday and Saturday nights.

However, the regular season of NLL commences in December and continues till April. The NLL declared to expand the playoffs to eight teams. For the 2022 NLL games, the top four teams will qualify. There will be a single-elimination first round, followed by the Championship rounds and Conference Finals.

The Growth in Popularity

NLL saw a steep growth in popularity after incorporating Philadelphia and San Diego franchises within two weeks. Even the biggest cynics were surprised to see the league’s growth in popularity. Credit also goes to the digital-first strategy responsible for NLL’s increased visibility.

The NLL Game of the Week has a record of about 50,000 subscribers on NLLTV and other digital platforms and nearly 350,000 spectators on Twitter. People love watching NLL games, and the league believes that the viewership numbers will increase more in the coming days. In addition, the National Lacrosse League has invested money in improving product quality, and that’s likely to earn more spectators. So join the hype! Browse our website and book your tickets.
