Basketball is one of the United States’ most loved sports, with spectators coming from all over to witness star players in the highest level of sporting action.
The first and only major sport originating from the USA, basketball has garnered attention internationally, attracting new fans every day.
During the winter of 1891, James Naismith, a Canadian-American physical education professor at the International YMCA Training School, was searching for a way to keep his class active while staying safe from the harsh weather outside.
He rejected several ideas since they weren't suited to indoor gymnasiums and, in the end, invented a new game himself. The game involved students passing the ball to each other and attempting to score points by shooting the ball into a basket mounted on the wall. The professor nailed a peach basket onto the wall at first, which derived the name 'basketball.'
At the time, the game had quite a few differences, the baskets had their bottoms intact, and dribbling wasn't a concept. These things started to change as the game gained popularity in the late 1890s.
Slowly but steadily, basketball grew in popularity after World War II. Once cable television was introduced in the 1980s, the rage for the game flared, bringing basketball to the forefront of American professional sports.
The game has since become widespread, with people playing on playgrounds, in school yards, driveways, summer camps, and wherever else possible.
But rather than playing it themselves, with astonishingly talented players like Earvin 'Magic' Johnson, Julius 'Dr. J' Erving, Larry Bird, and Michael Jordan fans are always excited to watch professional basketball. And what better way than to witness it live?
The fast-paced nature of basketball captivates the audience's eyes. The sounds of the cheering audience, the dribbling ball, and the commentator's insights fill the court with a lively atmosphere. Even the squeaking of the players' shoes on the floor has a certain charm to it.
Since it's such a spirited game, spectators don't have a single dull moment sitting in the bleachers. The skills exhibited by the basketballers only serve to excite you and get you rooting for them. Moreover, the venues provide delicious snacks and drinks that reinvigorate and help you enjoy the match further.
All in all, a live basketball match is an experience you cannot replicate sitting at home.
If you enjoy the sport, there is no better way to celebrate it. Go get your tickets for the next game!
